Winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play, Proof introduces us to Catherine, a troubled young woman who has grown up in the shadow of a brilliant but mentally unstable father. Following her father’s death, Catherine struggles to come to grips with her own highly volatile emotional state. While she is temporarily distracted by a tentative romance with a former student of her father’s, the discovery of a mysterious notebook  forces Catherine to finally confront the nagging question that haunts her: How much of her father's madness…or genius…will she inherit? As elegant as a mathematical formula, Proof is a compelling mystery, which David Auburn has masterfully infused with varying degrees of love, anger, compassion, and humor. The result is a beautifully crafted evening of theater!
