In 1957 in a New York Court of Law, a 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father -- a charge that carries a mandatory death sentence. Twelve men are instructed by a judge on the magnitude of their deliberations and are told that if there is the slightest doubt in their minds as to the guilt of the defendant, they must acquit. Some members strongly believe that the young man is guilty. One does not. The seeds of reasonable doubt are sown forcing this room of strangers to learn more about each other than they ever imagined.
